Custom Project Outsourcing

This includes code processing for application conversions, platform migrations and field expansion tasks.

The industry has witnessed $10 million application conversions, that have failed to meet users needs or have been abandoned due to poor performance, like daily reporting requirements taking over 24 hours to process. All of this at an investment cost of $12 -$18 per line of original legacy code. Meantime, since its inception, Progeni has never had a failed project or even one that did not finish on time and in budget.

We have observed the market and have found that failed projects invariably have two common characteristics.

The first is that project workers are rewarded for hours of effort not for the deliverable. Some consultants will not use productivity tools because they reduce their "earnable" revenue. Progeni undertakes most services on a fixed price, fixed delivery basis. We understand the occasional need to pay hourly for work that cannot be well defined, but this should not, in our opinion, be the norm.

The second is that the definition used to measure successful completion of the services is not clear. The reason some completed projects fail is because they do not deliver (or have established ways to test for) measurable gains or do not meet user expectations. Management needs to define IT needs and pay for agreed deliverables not the effort expended in hours. This will lower IT costs while improving value to the corporation.

Check The Benefits

Progeni's methodology for each assignment begins with:

  • Phase l. An assessment which depending on the details available, will result in an estimate of the Progeni content cost of a project. On occasions we have offered two or three optional estimates as requested by the customer.
  • Phase II. Having agreed on the overall strategy and price range, Progeni will undertake a full inventory analysis of the application programs, data schema and job control code that enables us to firmly fix the price, develop a statement of work and a project-planning document.
  • Phase III. This includes the set up of the automated process machines and the production of a small set of output code models to validate that the deliverable solution matches the needs and expectations of the customer.

Only after the customer has accepted these three phases, does the processing of full sets of programs take place. This is one of the reasons why Progeni's service solutions are risk free.
